Eddie Pak '11 received a scholarship through
USC Marshall School of Business to go to
Milan, Italy in January 2014 to study the Global
Fashion industry and Italy's role in the industry.
The Apartment and Office Building Association
in Washington, D.C awarded Angelique Payne
‘11 a scholarship to attend Prince George’s
Community College in Largo.
Joseph Press IV '11 continues to do well at
Morehouse College. Joseph, who is on a full
academic scholarship, is maintaining an overall
GPA 3.6+ as a US History major. In addition,
he is a Student Assistant on the football team
responsible for videotaping practices and games,
before breaking down the film for the coaches.
Ryan Scanlan '11 graduated in May 2013 from
Anne Arundel Community College with an
Associate degree in Health, Exercise, and Fitness
Studies. Ryan will continue his education at
Chowan University in North Carolina.
Marcus Thornton '11, for the second time in
as many seasons, was named to the National
Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC)
All-District 10 First Team, becoming just the
second two-time first-team choice in program
history. Along with the all-district choice,
CollegeInsider.com named Thornton the
Colonial Athletic Association Most Valuable
Player. Marcus was voted as the conference
player of the week multiple times. At Bishop
McNamara, Marcus was the Gatorade State
Player of the Year

Alexis Flores '13 studied in Singapore this
winter. She took a course in Business in
Singapore/Malaysia, which has a focus on
innovation specific to the region, hoping to
better expand her global education.

Anthony Brown '12 has been promoted to the
Managing Editor of the Owl Newspaper at
Prince George's Community College. Anthony,
who is the sports editor for the newspaper, will
be both the sports editor and managing editor of
the newspaper until another student is found to
take over the sports position.
Kendall Pace ’13 was the youngest Division 1
football player (FBS and FCS) in the country for
this year at 17 years and 1 month at Columbia
University. Kendall started his first collegiate
football game on September 28, 2013.
Matt Nuñez '12 was invited to represent St.
Edward's Campus Ministry at a dinner with
President of St. Ed's, George Martin, and the
Bishop of Austin, Joseph Vasquez.
Memorial Garden
On April 29, 2014, there will be an unveiling and dedication of the
Memorial Garden located behind Alumni Hall. The Garden will be in
honor of Terrell Edelen '14 who passed away in 2013. This garden will
honor the memory of Terrell and gives our community the opportunity
to likewise honor deceased loved ones.
Nala Herring '13 was accepted as a member
of the 4th class in the Freshman Leadership
Academy at Howard University. Out of 400
applications only 50 students were selected.
Kevaughn Townsend '13 was selected as the
Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association
Player of the Week during the season. Kevaughn
is a rookie linebacker in his freshman year at
Bowie State. Townsend led the Bulldogs defense
with 11 total tackles (six solo and five assisted)
in BSU's triple overtime loss at Virginia State.

Patricia Ann "Patsy" Kragh LR ‘72 died on July 21, 2013 at
Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC.
Rita Belinky, mother of BMHS parent, Steve Belinky, and
grandmother of Amy Belinky '09 and Charlie Belinky '15, passed
away January 27, 2014.
William Madden passed away on April 9, 2012. William was the
husband of Connie Madden, and the father of Autumn '06 and
Ian '08.
Kathy Burgess Bello LR '69 passed away November 10, 2013 in her
home. Kathy was the sister of Thomas Burgess '75 and sister-in-law
of Karen Bello Becker LR '69.
Victoria Nicholas, mother of BMHS parent, Resa Matthew and
grandmother of Adrian Matthew '14, passed away after a long
battle with cancer.
Mr. Haskel Bing, Jr., father of Danielle Bing '13, Derek Bing '10 and
husband to Letitia Bing, passed away over Christmas break.
Martin J. Oberman passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2014. Mr.
Oberman was the father of Marty Oberman Jr. '77, Cindy Oberman
Morgan LR '78, Maria Oberman Melton LR '80, Kevin Oberman '82,
and Carolyn (deceased) who attended in 1983-84 before her death
in 1984.
Mr. William (Bill) Boyce, husband of Mary Mundell Boyce and
father to five including Theresa Boyce '03, passed away January 1,
2014.
Matteo DeGennaro passed away on December 8, 2014. Mr.
DeGennaro was the father of Luigi DeGennaro '77, father-in-law
of Valerie LR '77, father of Nicoletta DeGennaro LR '82, and Laura
DeGennaro LR '87; grandfather of Anthony DeGennaro '07 and
Andrew DeGennaro '11.
