Grass Monkey Lawn Care goes beyond
making tall grass short and plain yards pretty.
“I would like to say we specialize in tree
trimming and removal and annual lawn
maintenance,” owner Justin Cawvey said. “At
the same time, we follow that up with irrigation,
landscaping, sod installation. We even
go as far as gravel delivery and pad installation;
I guess you can classify
all that under dirt work or
grade work.”
Cawvey said customer satisfaction
and quality work
keeps Grass Monkey going.
“I tell my customers every
time, ‘you don’t owe me money until you’re
happy,’” he said. “We’re not going to leave
your property with you upset.”
The business — and the name — began
less than five years ago, when Cawvey was
still in high school.

school, and I went around the room and
a friend of mine suggested the name, and
we went with it,” he said. “High school and
college, it was just me and a couple of guys
going out and cutting grass.”
Cawvey mowed to pay his way through
Connors State College.
“Whenever I graduated from Connors
with my associate’s degree, it had kind of
full-blown turned into business,”
he said. “I just kind of
stuck with it, and at this point
we are running 17 employees
45 hours a week.”
He credits his employees
with helping the business
grow, helping clients as far away as Tulsa,
Hulbert and Haskell.
Grass Monkey keeps growing. The business
will soon break ground for a new facility
at Sixth and Hancock streets.
“We have a 10-acre plot where we plan on
developing our new facility,” Cawvey said.
