Paul Wall gave early 2000's rap a Houston swagg that brought new elements of originality into the industry especially with the chopped and screwed style that was used by many Texas rappers . Paul Wall first rose to fame with his debut album Get Ya Mind Correct, a collaborative effort between Paul Wall and Chamillionaire, also known as The Color Changin' Click. This album was released on the INDY label Paid in Full Entertainment and sold over 150,000 copies without a major label. The album peaked at No. 67 on Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The album was also nominated by Source Magazine for indie Album of the year. Paul Wall also released a solo indie album in 2004 called Chick Magnet. In 2005 he also released another collaborative effort with Chamillionaire with the album Controversy Sells which peaked at No. 30 on US Indie chart. Also in 2005 the Swishahouse and Asylum Records artist signed to Atlantic Records and had major success with his second but first Major label album The Peoples Champ which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2006 he won 3 Ozone for Taste Maker, Best Rap/R&B Collaboration and Best Rap Collaboration. His third album Get Money, Stay True (2007) also debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard chart for Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. In 2007, Paul Wall was nominated for a Grammy for Best Rap Performance for his song Grillz. After such great success Paul Wall slowly started to lose his status of popularity, he release his fourth studio album Fast Life in 2009 which did not have any great commercial success and was not released by Atlantic Records (ties severed). In 2010 he released his fifth studio album Heart of a Champion which was released by Warner Bros., Asylum Records and Swishahouse. It debuted at No. 56 on Billboard 200 selling 7,600 copies in it's first week and subsequently fell to No. 124 in it's second week with a sales total of 11,000 plus copies. It debuted at No. 7 on Billboard Top Rap Album charts. Presently that album has sold up to 27,000 copies in the US. In 2013 he released his sixth album #CheckSeason on his own label Paul Wall Music.

Paul Wall has worked with artists such as Mike Jones, T-pain, Kid Ink, Young Dolph, Lil Jon, Diddy and other heavy hitters in the music industry.

Paul Wall also has had success with his acting career having appeared on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation in 2011 along with artists Yelawolf and Christina Milian.
