Dearly Departed is the debut album from UK rockers The Family Ruin. The album was released September 26, 2014 under KBB Records, the brainchild of Ben Bruce (ASKING ALEXANDRIA) and Kyle Borman. The 14 track CD is intense and in your face from start to finish; beginning with the chilling ‘Bring Out Your Dead’ to the somber finishing track ‘Sonder’. Two of the 14 tracks really stood out to me, one being ‘Cirque Du Sin’, not only because the name is really neat, but also because instrumentally it sounds incredibly similar to Avenged Sevenfold. It’s a very strong track and well put together. The other is ‘Filth’; if there’s a song about sex on an album it’ll probably be one of my favorites because I’m a vile girl. I totally dig it, “Fuck me like you hate me”? Hell yeah, I like the way these guys think.
Rating 5/5- I wasn’t sure what exactly to expect from these guys, I’d never heard of them until now and I can honestly say I wish I knew about them sooner! To me it’s almost like Avenged Sevenfold and Asking Alexandria somehow produced a musical baby and named it The Family Ruin. I can see this talented group of gentlemen going very far in their careers, and of course wish them the best!
Be sure to check out The Family Ruin on The Moving on Tour with Asking Alexandria, Chelsea Grin, Blessthefall, and Upon a Burning Body-I know I sure am!
