'Same Graves' is the first single off of the debut album Permanence from Aussie rockers Storm the Sky. The album is set for release January 16, 2015 and is available for pre-order bundles as well.
The song, instrumentally is very strong. The video really brings this out too. It is also blatantly obvious that this is a ain't more or less blasting Christianity. If the video doesn't drive this point home, the lyrics sure do;
"God is like a lover that's left and never coming back. Gets you thinking you're part of a plan, and when your heart stops beating takes your place up in the sky and gives it out to someone who died more righteous". And "you profit from manipulation, living like a criminal. The sacrifice you say saved your life. But still you wait to see the other side, leaving behind the world He designed."
Add that in with the music video and you get some dudes seriously pissed off at Jesus.
Fab reception is mixed. Since the video was released under Rise Records, there's the 'every band on Rise sounds the same' comments along with the two sides defending and defaming Christianity. And of course there are those that just like the song, it's a pretty mixed pot as far as the love/hate factor goes.
Rating: 4/5- I really had to look at this from an objective standpoint. Looking at it that way, it's a hell of a good song with a strong message and the instrumentals are very well put together. What more could you ask of a song? If course being a Christian myself I was slightly offended, as that is not how a majority of us are, but I got over that and really enjoyed the song for the sound rather than the content.
