We Don’t Have Each Other is the debut album and “character study conducted through music” from Dan ‘Soupy’ Campbell, frontman of The Wonder Years.
The album has a mellow, sometimes folky sound...dare I say country at some points? This album is yet another one that tells a story about the character Aaron West, and the worst year of his life. It’s a story which many people would like to see adapted visually. Even though Aaron West seems to be an “alter ego” of Campbell, that was made up for this concept album, it’s working for him. Fan reception has been great, so many people love the album and the story that it tells. Some people don’t quite make the connection and then realization that it is Campbell. The question still remains, will Aaron West’s life look up? Myself and other fans sure hope so. Even though Aaron West is a fictional character, many people can connect and relate to him.
Rating: 5/5- I love this album. I love the fact that it tells a story, albeit a sad story, but a story nonetheless. I think this concept is really working for Soupy, and I can’t wait to see where he goes with this and I can’t wait to hear more.
