SONG
REVIEW
‘Suicide;Stigma’ is the first single off the The Color Morale’s upcoming album Hold On Pain Ends which will be available September 2, 2014 via Fearless Records. They released a live lyric video shot while on Warped Tour; it features live footage and fans and bands alike holding cardboard signs with the lyrics on them. The song is great, spreads a wonderful message and is very emotional-I wouldn’t expect anything less! Not only does it confront the topic of suicide head on, “suicide doesn’t end the pain, it passes to the ones you love and remain. Take yourself out of the equation and the problem stays.” It also touches on the subject of how suicide is almost a taboo, and how that needs to change, “when I speak such a word, are you uneasy with how it’s heard? The stigma will never leave unless all of us can just start talking.” Fan reception has been nothing short of positive, almost every single comment! People love it and can connect with it on a personal level, there’s people sharing their stories about how TCM has helped them through their problems and that’s just an amazing thing.
Rating: 5/5- Surprisingly I was going to go less, but changed my mind at the last minute. Not because I don’t think lesser of the song or anything, but I would have loved to see an actual music video with this song, which I imagine would be amazing as well, and probably even more tear-inducing than it already is. But then I realized that’s a shitty reason to dock of points, so here we are. This track brought tears to my eyes, the message is something that does need to be brought to light more! I wholeheartedly agree that we need to start talking more about suicide, how people can get help, more openly! It always seems like it’s so hush-hush, how are we supposed to help one another that way? I didn’t think I could have any more love or respect for The Color Morale men, but I do and I can’t wait to see what else this new album holds!
