Rock al Parque or Rock at the Park is the most important open-air rock music festival in Latin America There are loads on informal gatherings everyday across Bogota where several concerts spring up to beautify the city of music. On a daily basis, there are gatherings of popular national and international bands and artists happening simultaneously across the whole town, playing music of all genres for all tastes. Concerts in theaters, massive concerts in parks and indoor venues, concerts in night places that boost the party, concerts for the romantics, classical music presentations, concerts for the youth, concerts for everyone. Bogotá has worked to position itself as leader in cultural offerings in South America, and it is increasingly being recognized worldwide as a hub in the region for the development of the arts. In 2007 Bogotá was awarded the title of Cultural Capital of Ibero-America by the UCCI (Union of Ibero-American Capital Cities), and it became the only city to have received the recognition twice, after being awarded for the ?rst time in 1991. The importance of music in Bogota is shown even in its educational system with eleven higher institutions offering music as a course of study and has three radio stations dedicated to classical music. Bogota's designation as a UNESCO music city will boost tourism and commerce in Colombia as it local events continue to gain international attention and may soon become the global headquarters for Opera performance and training.
