Special Instrumental Programs
Year 2 Compulsory String Program
The Year 2 string program allows all Year 2 students to learn an orchestral string instrument. All
students receive -
Free hire of a Violin, Viola, or ‘Cello for 12 months. These are allocated based on student
preference, instrument availability, height of student and hand span.
One free group lesson per week. Groups will be made on the basis of levels of ability.
Two to three students per group. Lessons take place during the school timetable and
are scheduled to avoid literacy and numeracy times where possible.
One full ensemble rehearsal per week – held during the school day in classroom music
time.
Instrumental Reports - Semester One and Semester Two.
Parents are required to purchase orchestra text.

Preparatory School Beginner Band Program
This Program offers students in Years 5 and 6 one year of free group lessons on the following
instruments –
Bassoon
Clarinet
Euphonium
Flute
French Horn
Oboe
Saxophone – alto
Saxophone – baritone
Saxophone - tenor
Trombone
Trumpet
Tuba
This program involves –
one group lesson per week with an instrumental tutor free of charge for one year.
one rehearsal per week in the training band.
option of a jazz or orchestra ensemble, if desired/applicable.
In the second year of lessons, students receive one individual lesson per week at a
discount rate.
