Music & Dance News July/August 2019 Page 23 Kris and the Riverbend Dutchmen release ‘Summer Sounds’ Kris and the River- bend Dutchmen from Madison Lake, MN recently released their fourth music CD, “Sum- mer Sounds.” In a stark departure from previous albums, this production contains some of the band’s rock- and-roll favorites from groups including The Beach Boys, Jimmy Buf- fett, Chuck Berry, and The Rivieras. The album was pro- fessionally recorded, mixed, and engineered by Barefoot Music Stu- dios in Madison Lake, MN. Other musicians per- forming on the album are Greg George, Jim Kozan, Jeff Grimmer, and many others. Bandleader Kris Kelt- gen explained, “We wanted to do something uniquely different than other polka bands, that would highlight the group’s versatility and diverse musical inter- ests.” Keltgen added, “This album is almost entirely rock-and-roll. We made a great effort to keep the selections as close to the original recordings as possible, so it didn’t sound like a polka band trying to cover a rock song.” “Most everyone in the band has really diverse musical interests and we wanted to do something fun and out of the ordi- nary. “Nothing is more fun than spending time with friends in the summer, so we focused on fun rock-and-roll songs that related to that theme.” For more information and to order copies of “Summer Sounds,” visit www.RiverbendDutch- men.com, or call 507- 243-3850. “Summer Sounds” is a collection of beach-themed rock-and-roll songs.
