KCHK radio continued
The country music be-
ing classic or what its an-
nouncers call “vintage.”
In the mid 1970s, new
ownership changed the
call letters to KCHK to
connect with the Czech
culture that is prevalent
in the area.
Back then, and to
this day, announcers
refer to the station as
“K-Check.”
In December 1990, an
FM station was added;
it, too, has the call letters
of KCHK.
Today, in addition to
1350 AM and 95.5 FM,
people all over the world
can listen via the station’s
stream at kchkradio.net,
and apps which can be
downloaded to mobile
devices.
Throughout
2019,
the 50th anniversary of
KCHK has been cel-
ebrated on the station in
the form of prize give-
aways, interviews with
past employees, a count-
down of news events
from 50 years ago, and
with a large party at the
Park Ballroom in New
Prague Nov. 17.
About 900 people at-
tended from 100 differ-
ent Minnesota communi-
ties, and two neighboring
states; and 715 pounds of
food and $600 were col-
lected for the local food
shelf.
The future of KCHK
Exciting developments
are in the near future for
KCHK.
An FM translator for
the AM signal will be
added, resulting in more
consistent power for the
programming on 1350
AM, 24 hours a day.
A station remodel is
planned, with the 50-
year-old building getting
a facelift and upgraded
equipment installed.

He stated, “I am so
proud of our accom-
plishments over the past
seven years. We have
grown our number of
listeners and advertis-
ers, set records within
our radio company for
people listening online,
and most importantly,

He added, “It’s been a

“New Prague and the
