From the snow-covered prairies of Renville County, hello to all the snowboarding polka dancers of the upper Midwest.
I have to get this done in a hurry or Audrey is going to be upset with me, as I was to have it done and to her three days ago.
The last time I wrote, it was good weather and when you read it, it was bad; so if the case continues, it will be nice weather when you read this.
I really don’ t enjoy the snow much, as we are calving at this time and the snow and cold is absolutely the worst weather we could have.
Bob Malek told me you have to take good care of those cows, as they are ladies and need to be treated as so.

A bit of trivia – on April 2, 1982, it was 78 degrees; and by the evening of April 3, it was just 7 degrees – quite a big change, but no snow.
I am sure by the time you read this, the coronation meeting and dance will be over.
I am sure most of you are aware, the Po. L. K. of A. Musicfest is the first weekend in August – 3rd, 4th, and 5th. Fritz and Bella have put together a great group of bands. Come and enjoy. Also the $ 10 coupon is still good for a Po. L. K. of A. membership – contact Maddie.
God bless and keep dancing.

sure isn’ t like spring.
I’ ve been working on trying to get the younger folks to dance to the many tunes of the polka and waltzes. We have some ideas that we would like to try. There will be more on this in the next issue of Music and Dance News.
We have been having a few health troubles, but it seems to be getting better.
Our oldest son and his wife will be home for a week in the middle of April.
Hope everyone had a good Easter.
Keep dancing and enjoy the music.

Yes, spring is here, but we still have plenty of snow on March 20. Ice is on the lakes and it will be some time yet before that is gone.

Dancing has been limited, due to the cold and snow, but as weather gets warmer it will pick up.
I’ ve been mostly to Pla- Mor in Glencoe for afternoon dances; crowds have been smaller, but still lots of fun times.
Our website is at ballroomassociation. com; visit to get the latest information.
If you would like to learn to dance, go to www. USADance Minnesota. org.
We made our monthly trip to Turtle Lake Casino, where the buffet is good and the event center has dances the first Sunday of each month. Recent bands were Bill Koncar, Hank Thunander, and Polka Spotlight Band.
Polka Spotlight is the second Saturday of the month in Brooklyn Park, MN. We heard the Gene Ostendorf Band from the Avon area for the first time; had good variety. Cathy Erickson Band was also there recently, with many good tunes.
March 11, we went to the Czech Mardi Gras, Masopust, in Montgomery, MN. Charlie Sticka furnished the dancing music. I had a good time. There were lots of friendly people, a silent auction on homemade rolls, and food was
