Music & Dance News Continued from page 22 toured nationally and internationally for nine years with the prestigious Dallas Brass, where he was given the opportunity to play with many American orchestras and ensembles. Following his stint with the Dallas Brass, Lazarus took his talents to the Meridian Arts Ensemble and then the Canadian Brass, before joining the Minnesota Orchestra, with whom he currently works. Lazarus has also enjoyed a critically-acclaimed recording career as a bandleader; first with the release of “Solo Settings” in 2005, and secondly with the release of “Zacbava” in 2008. As a teacher, Lazarus has taught master classes in every US state, as well as internationally. Lazarus wowed the audience when he performed as a guest artist with the Mankato Symphony in 2012. This will be, however, his first time performing January/February 2016 Page 23 in the historic Kato Ballroom. Since its opening in the early 1950s, the Kato Ballroom has hosted legends such as Little Richard, Louis Armstrong, Buddy Holly, and Jerry Lee Lewis.
