Museek Mag concerts. After my 12th I basically did that, I used to go to concerts in the Evening. If I was in some other college far off, I would get home only by 6 pm. As I was studying in Satyabhama College I had time to participate in the concerts. I almost participated about 1000 shows like this. I was these Carnatic nuances and everything, I’d probably have to owe Rajesh Vaidya because I had played 1000 shows with him over a period of 8-9 years. A lot of tricks I grabbed from that, I worked with other artists too like Drums Murugesh, Valayapatti Mazharvizhi, Bombay Jayshree, etc. I have into lot of fusion, it’s been a part of my music since 2001. After academy, I worked at Infosys for 3 years, then I quit my work and took up music as full time. This has been my journey. Navneeth: Ya I should thank a lot of people, I should thank Satyabhama, my friend Ragini who gave me the motivation to quit and come out. I should also thank so many people, I should my friend Alap Raju for calling me into his band. That is how I got the band experience, all the band which we see today is probably Alap and I started the trend at that point, playing with singers and rearranging stuff. At that point, it was new and I had been playing with my friend Vasanth Anup Srijith in a band caller Trinity. I was paying with Trinity for a while and these people went to other countries and so I started playing with Alap and that’s when it started a professional band career for me. MM: People say that MM: Would you like to thank keyboard doesn’t have anyone at this moment? gamakam and even though 12 played they are said to be cut notes. What is your reaction to it. Navneeth: Carnatic music has also evolved these times, even though modern instruments are coming in. Of course, every instrument has a limitation, even in western instrument the instruments are restricted by range where you can’t play base notes on trumpet, flute has a restricted range, guitar has 6 strings whereas 7 note chord cannot be played technically with a guitar but the limitation of the guitar is its beauty. So, every instrument has its beauty and adapting an instrument to a particular form of music, it doesn’t have to be comprehensive. It just has to be beautiful, it’s my opinion. If I was a violin player the way I see Carnatic music is very different, if I was a nathaswaram player the way I approach a raga will be different as well.
