him . It was her who heard me singing in Guruvayoor and brought me to him . Selvakumar - When did you come to Chennai to start music as a career ? Devi : I was fortunate that I learnt music from my guru in a gurukulam style . I lived with him and his family and grew up as their daughter . I also did my graduation in music from Madras University while I was living there . And I used to go for many programmes in All India Radio especially to learn and work under the great masters like MB Srinivasan sir , MS Vishwanathan sir etc . There was a tradition in AIR of composing a special song live every year and I was blessed to be a part of all of them .
