photography
is
always a very little
known area, for most
photographers. This is because
most of the DSLRs require
special gadgets to enable time-
lapse recording.
Doing a Time-Lapse Video in
GH5 is very straightforward.
You just need to dial in the
Time-Lapse mode on the mode
dial. Setup your intervals. Keep
the camera in Shutter Priority,
Aperture Priority or Manual
mode and click record. After
recording the image sequences,
it offers to put the images
together and makes you a time
lapse video up to a minute long.
It is that simple.
Some tips and tricks on Time-
Lapse photography. Always
aim to shoot at a lower shutter
speed. Lower the shutter speed
then better the motion blur;
this prevents the time-lapse
from being choppy.
To set the shutter speed to as low
as 1 sec. You would certainly
need a Variable ND filter and
a firm tripod. Always avoid
using Autofocus during t ime-
lapse shoots. Capture a Frame
once in 3 to 5 seconds. Capture
53
over 1200 frames to get over a
minute of Time-Lapse Video.
Never use any auto functions
in the camera, disable the in-
body stabilizers and put the
camera on a firm tripod. Never
overexpose the image. The
exposure should be just right.
While doing a long time-lapse
sequence make sure you have
two 64gb or 128 gb cards in the
camera so you don’t run out of
space. It is preferable to shoot in
RAW as you can postprocess the
images if you want to create a
cusom video using after effects.
