For some it may mean step-
ping into the gym for the first
time, trying out a new exercise
or training method, cutting
out certain foods or incor-
porating new ones into their
diet. Or it may mean stepping
out onto a stage in front of
hundreds of people with only
inches of fabric covering your
body. In any case, pushing
past that initial fear and mov-
ing beyond the point of being
comfortable is where the most
growth happens. We learn
new things about ourselves,
build up our confidence
levels and gain new insight
into what we are capable of.
It raises the bar for our next
achievements, and it adds to
our list of life experiences and
gives us new memories, all the
while expanding our horizons
and pushing our hopes and
dreams past limits that we
never thought possible.
FIONA’S
FOR FINDING THE MAGIC
Fake it ‘till you make it.
Often true self-confidence in our
abilities doesn’t come until after
a new experience is over and you
have had time to absorb it and
reflect on it. Sometimes we need
to convince ourselves that we are
capable of something and will be
successful at it before even giving it
a try. This unfounded belief in our-
selves may be difficult at first but it
will push us to try new things and
will greatly improve our chances of
succeeding at them.
Take baby steps. We don’t
have to take leaps and bounds past
the areas that we feel comfortable
in. Making small moves in the right
direction can lead to even greater
success than taking one drastic
move, plus they allow us the time
that some may need in order to ad-
just to our newly expanded comfort
zone. Try doing something new and
different every day, and remember
even if your steps are tiny, you're
still moving forward!
Always look for growth.
When we stay inside our comfort
zone we limit our ability to learn
new things and to have new and
exciting adventures. Living with
what’s familiar can make us feel
safe and secure but it doesn't’ allow
us to expose our true potential.
Finding small ways to grow each
day, like learning a new skill or
seeking out new experiences, can
have a huge impact on our ability to
improve ourselves.
Get comfortable with be-
ing uncomfortable . We all
end up in situations that make us
feel uncomfortable. It’s a fact of life,
something that will never change,
so we might as well get used to it!
Shrug off your uncertainties, laugh
off your mistakes and move on! It’s
important to know that just because
we weren’t as successful as we
thought we would be, it doesn’t me
that we have failed.
Enjoy the process. It’s easy
to become so focused on our end
goal that we don’t stay present and
enjoy the moment. As important as
our goals may be, it’s the little mile-
stones along the way that make up
our journey. Not only can fixating
on the final goal be overwhelming
and intimidating, it doesn’t allow
us to find happiness in the small
achievements that we accomplish
along the way.
