chance. He has hit me a few times in training and that
was enough for me to know I was glad he is on my team.
He probably isn’t supposed to hit me - but he definitely
has done haha.
LH: That’s tough because I don’t think I’d like to play
against any of my team-mates for different reasons.
Most of them are tougher than me and some of them
are so skillful they just make me look silly out there, so
it’s hard to say. But let’s just stay on the fence, not upset
anyone, and say I wouldn’t like to go up against any of
them. I’m glad to have them all as teammates...unlike
Luke who now has all of his team-mates trying to show
him they’re tougher than Paquette haha.
LF: I’ve done it again haven’t I? Let’s do this bit again...
let me think about it properly first haha...
LH: Too late mate, the damage is done. Good luck
when you get back to training haha...
LF: ...I’m going to tell Paquette you think
he is a pussy!!
ML: Haha I’m definitely coming to the next Blaze vs
Lightning match now! Seeing as speed is such a huge
asset to both of your games, what do you do off-ice to
help your speed on the ice?
LH: Obviously a lot of sprints, either on the treadmill,
up hills, on a bike or a rowing machine. I find ladder
agility drills are good for keeping me light on my toes
too, and plyometrics really help with my power.
LF: During the summer heavy lifts are key! I’m always
trying to recruit as many muscle fibres as possible and
trying to increase my speed. Having good footwork is
really important and that is something that can be done
pre-season as well as during the season. Ladder drills
and agility help me a lot too.
ML: The faster you are moving the more it hurts when
you come to a sudden halt. What injuries have you
picked up so far?
LF: I’ve had 4 cuts on my face, a partially torn PCL
in my knee, a couple of sprained MCL’s, a handful of
shoulder strains, some pulled groins and a broken
finger...
LH: Touch wood...I have been very lucky with the big
injuries. For me there have just been a few niggles in
my groin from wear and tear. Sometimes after a hard
weekend my hips become tight, but like I said I’m one
of the lucky ones with injuries so far.
LF: Wait until Paquette gets you haha...
ML: How much work do you boys have to do in the
gym?!
LH: During the season it can depend on how the body
is feeling after the weekend and if I’m carrying any
niggles, but we are usually in the gym 3-4 times a week
