he IFBB-sanctioned SSN Team
Universe competition went ahead
with aplomb at the Sibaya Casino
in Durban on the 28 September this
year, providing another stage for SA’s
talented athletes to showcase themselves,
all the while helping to raise money for
South African athletes competing on the
international amateur stages.
There were cash prize incentives for the

athletes to bring their best package to the
stage, and the quality was great. The event
was a success and a good experience for
Durban’s bodybuilding fans, with great
physiques on display and some light
entertainment during the two intervals that
did not detract at all from the real show –
which was all about physique celebration.
It would be amiss not to mention the
overall winner Boysie Ngcobo, who brought
a package to stage that deserved the title.
Another two athletes that stood out and
definitely warrant a special mention are the
talented Michael du Buisson and Jared Read,
who brought top packages to the event.
Sibusiso Kuzwayo took the Juniors U/23
and his rise in this sport will be watched very
closely by all those who love bodybuilding.
Naiem Ally took the Classic Bodybuilding title
over Mo Rawat.
