Supporting United Nowadays
I
Zuhayer Shadman Khan
n this Barca-Madrid plagued society,
people raise an eyebrow when you say you
support Manchester United. Not even
Manchester City with heroes Aguero,
Zabaleta and formerly Tevez, nor Chelsea
full of darling Brazilians, nor Liverpool
who have that Uruguayan rodent, nor
Mesut Ozil and his Arsenal. None of them.
You support United filled with obscure
Englishmen and a ‘fon’ Persie and a 40 year
old. And a ridiculous manager. No fun in
watching them. Nothing. 8th on the table.
People do not fail to make their best
impression of Carlo Ancelotti at first. Then
either of the following happen :
A. I feel for you bro.
B. Why do you keep supporting them?
C. But.... But..... Ronaldo left 4 years ago! Becks
left 10 years ago!
D. You are a United fan and I will not marry my
daughter to you (if I had one) because you are
an arrogant prick and a lifeless vermin.
Okay.
It’s a hard life, supporting United. You’d think
Liverpool fans (also Arsenal) lead hard lives
because their teams do not gain annual
silverware, but a true United fan knows how
hard it is to support United.
You get your loyalty questioned. Liverpool/
Arsenal fans do not have that problem, in fact
they are the loyalest fanbases on earth. So
people think.
“But a true fan knows how i
rritating it can be to have your
loyalty questioned.”
“Oh it’s easy supporting a successful club,
bla bla bla, come back when you have won
nothing in 5 years!”
I say, Challange Accepted!
Then people think we just support United
because it’s cool. None of us can say the
first team. Yeah right, as if we haven’t been
watching Steven Gerrard and Frank
Lampard pairing at the midfield for us
flanked by Sneijder on the left (with Messi
overlapping from LB) and Robben on the
right for years. Also Luis Suarez is our
legendary goalkeeper. Love him. And our
forwards, Reus and Lewandowski. Uff!
Best in business!!
