My Rant Shihab Rahman L ately people have been bashing Manchester United a lot as we’re lying eighth in the Premier league. Players aren’t performing to their bests and the resultshave not been good. Worries over the new trainingregime is flowing as a lot of players have got injured lately while there are also transfer speculations of top stars leaving and us not being able to land world class signing any more. One of the reasons behind this is that there is a new coach in,David Moyes and some are complaining that he, so far, has got it all wrong. You can see some section of supporters complaining about him, demanding him to be sacked while our rivals smiling with their teeth out at his misery and trolling us with all sorts of memes. “Moyesout” chants have broken out at large, despite this being his sixth month in charge only and even half of the season hasn’t been completed. Yet people seems to blame him for the inevitable mistakes done. Well let me tell you that Moyes was SAF’s handpicked choice and he had quite a successful stint before at his former clubs, Preston North End and Everton, it wasn’t a trophy shaded stint but a good spell. And Sir Alex isn’t going to choose someone who isn’t worthy enough. “You need to understand the fact that, there is a new face in after over 26 years and it takes time to understand the philosophy that a team follows.” As a manager you have to analyse the club at its core and know everything about it like where the team lacks and where to make improvements, what formation suits the team and so plus you need to know the players thoroughly like how and where they want to play, what their strengths are and what are their weakness and how to bring the best from them, then there is the coaching staff and you can’t interact with them being formal and so. Say i buy you a Mercedes today; will you be able to drive it? No, because you need time to learn how to drive, even if have driven common Toyota’s before, but Mercedes is a totally different thing. But once you learn to drive it, there is no stopping you is there? Moyes never managed a club this big,yet the squad he inherited is not up to the reputation the clubs holds, so there will be slip ups.Unlike Chelsea or Madrid we don’t sack manager just after a few bad results, because we don’twant to build a team, we want to build a club. The pressure of succeeding SAF and thriving inOld Trafford is immense. But to thrive you need to strive first and Moyes nodifferent here. We aren’t like Chesea, Man City, PSG or Real Madrid that we would just go on and spend agazillion bucks for overpriced players. We also don’t inherit a squad fully made of homemade players like Barca or Dortmund that the players would PAGE |25
