INTERVIEW WITH DION DEACON
HOW WE FIRST STARTED
My parents Alan and Kay Deacon
started the company and we have
been supplying the hotel industry for
over 30 years.
We started in our family home in
a small village called New Romney,
and after outgrowing the bedrooms
and garage for storage, we
started renting warehouses before
purchasing our very own offices and
warehouses, which is where
we are still growing today.
We started up with just
supplying toiletries to the
Hotels in and around
the UK, mainly in
London area to start
with, as my Dad Alan
also worked in the
London area in the
Hotel industry before
he started Hotel
complimentary
products. Back
then personalised

products in hotels was so popular
particularly with groups of hotels and
because we had our own filling lines in
the UK and this really helped us grow
which my Mum – Kay worked on.
I remember as a young lad from
about the age of 14, delivering the
products with Alan to each and every
hotel we supplied.
I joined the company full
time from the age of 15 in 1995,
starting out in the warehouse
and now my son Jamie has
joined the company just last
year at the age of 16.
A lot has changed over
the 21 years I have worked
in hotel complimentary
products and in the industry
itself as well.
I am proud to be
involved and see where
the company is today. I
am not going to say we
are the biggest supplier in
the hotel industry, far from
it, but I believe we all have a place
in the market and there is enough
business for everyone. I will say that
we are growing in the right direction
and expanding by building our fourth
warehouse this year which helps us
hold so many products and stock.
Over the last 15 years we have
become more of a one stop shop
rather than just a toiletry
company and now importing
over 85% of the items we
offer we have become very
competitive in Hotel accessories
and Hotel electrics.
All our products can now
be bought online with having
special offers monthly and
also are offering 10% to any
new customers on orders
placed. We will be exhibiting
at the Independent show in
London 17th -18th October
where we will have some new
products to show. It would be
great to meet you there.
