Summer Dance at The Mundelein School of Dance

A Mundelein Park & Recreation District Program

Here is an opportunity to try a short term dance class . Our six-week session offers the opportunity to try dance before joining the long term program in the fall . All classes are led by experienced Mundelein School of Dance Instructors . Questions ? Email Dance Coordinator , Heather Burnes , or Dance Lead , Stephanie Nece at dance @ mundeleinparks . org .

Dance Class Descriptions :

Acro : will focus on floor acrobatic skills and tricks , as well as strength and flexibility .

Creative Dance : A basic introduction to dance in a fun atmosphere . Child may still be in pull up , but parent must stay outside of the class . Dancer must be able to separate from parent .

Dance Bootcamp : Don ' t lose your skills over the summer ; make them stronger ! This class is designed to help dancers work on ballet and jazz technique , strength , and flexibility .

Hip Hop : Fun and challenging dance moves to the latest popular music .

Musical Theater : Class emphasizes Broadway style dances with a fusion of ballet and jazz .

Pre-Ballet : Must be 3.5 years to participate , toilet trained and able to stay without a parent . Parents may wait in the building .

Pointe : Requires instructor approval . Pointe skills and strengthening for technique needed when dancing on pointe .

Tap and Ballet Combo : Dancers will learn ballet and tap basics . Ballet positions and basic skills will be taught , along with tap steps and terminology .

Tap Tech : Dancers will learn tap skills and build on previously acquired skills , along with terminology .

What to Wear :

Ballet Technique : BLACK Leotard , PINK tights , and PINK leather or canvas ballet shoes

Jazz , Musical Theater and Tap Classes : BLACK Leotard , TAN tights , dance pants or shorts , and TAN jazz shoes .

Hip Hop Classes : BLACK dance sneakers , dance pants or shorts with non-baggy shirt or tank top

Pre Ballet : PINK Leotard , PINK tights , and PINK leather or canvas ballet shoes

Tap & Ballet Combo Classes : PINK Leotard , tights , pink leather or canvas ballet shoes , and tan tap shoes .

Boys : Boys should wear a solid t-shirt and shorts or pants appropriate for dance . Boys wear either black ballet shoes , black jazz shoes , or black tap shoes depending on the class .

* Shoe Exchange : Pre – worn shoes are available at the dance studio . You can exchange your used pair for a size that fits , or make a $ 5 donation for a pair of shoes .
