O. is the equivalent of our ‘&’, short for Och – Swedish for ‘and’. You say it like this: “Pole arn oh pier et”. However most people know this children’s clothing brand as PO.P. Brand Heritage Polarn o. pyret In the early 1900’s in Sweden, travelling sewing machine salesman Nils Adamsson decided to open a small shop selling condoms, after noticing the impact family size was having on struggling households. By the 1930’s his wife Karin was making and selling baby clothing in a new department of the small shop in Stockholm, and so the family business grew and by 1976 the Polarn O.
