I
t's a strange time to run an ultra; at the dawn of summer, but the
location and course sell themselves and what better way to sign
off on a good year with your club mates; than at another event?!
The GC50 winds it's way down and back along the coastline
from Kurrawa to Coolangatta on Queensland's Gold Coast,
predominantly running on the 'Oceanway' footpath and returns to
the iconic finish line. The event experienced an incredible growth
of 60% in 2019 as clubs flocked to the event to celebrate their year.
Including 5km, 15km, 30km, 2 x 25km relay events and the
inaugural and unique 'Triple Mix'; whereby teams fielded runners
in the 5km, 15km and 30km to record an accumulated time for the
50km, the GC50 has become a staple 'end of year' celebration for
SE runners and running clubs.
Congratulations to Rob Clarke (3:17:32) and Jane Fardell
(3:50:56) who took out the prestigious 50km titles and to all
runners for finishing the year in style. Mark your calendar for
December 8, 2019 to #runthecoast
