The role of women in God’ s mission is often overlooked, yet Scripture tells a different story. Throughout the Bible, women played a vital part in the growth and life of the early church. When women are encouraged and equipped, they multiply God’ s work in their homes, communities, and nations.
Lydia opened her home, turning it into a gathering place for believers( Acts 16:14 – 15). Nympha hosted a church in her house( Colossians 4:15). Phoebe faithfully served and supported the apostles’ ministry( Romans 16:1 – 2). Priscilla taught and discipled others alongside her husband( Acts 18:26). Euodia and Syntyche labored for the Gospel and defended the faith( Philippians 4:2 – 3). The Samaritan woman received Jesus’ living water, shared her testimony with her entire town, and led many to believe in him( John 4:28 – 42).
Jesus reminds us,“ The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest”( Matthew 9:37-38). The need for workers in his field is great. Many of these potential workers are women who have not yet been encouraged or equipped to join the global harvest.
As a church planter, I have often observed that women make up a large portion of the church and their impact can be significant. In my experience, women are often more receptive to spiritual matters, yet their contributions to ministry are frequently overlooked. I have seen illiterate women, after being discipled and taught to read, open their homes for Bible studies, prayer groups, and churches. From these homes, I have witnessed the birth of churches that multipled into several other house churches.
I am a product of this kind of movement among women. Someone invested in me— encouraging and discipling me to share God’ s Word with others. Today, I see other women multiplying disciples through the Gospel because of that investment.
In January 2026, several women received training and were equipped with evangelism tools. Within a month, one woman mobilized and equipped 30 other women to become Seed Sowers by sharing their testimonies and presenting the Gospel using the 3 Circles evangelism tool. Another woman was trained to teach others how to share the Gospel with large crowds.
The contributions of women are essential for expanding the kingdom and planting new churches. Sadly, church leaders too often fail to appreciate the importance of women in Gospel movements.
Evangelist Anne Graham Lotz once said,“ When people have a problem with women in the ministry, they need to take it up with Jesus. He is the one who put us here.”
God has called women to join his mission to share the Gospel and make disciples of all nations— and we are witnessing the fruit of their obedience.
