THE ARTIST
Angelika is a Fine Art Photographer from Adelaide. South Australia. She first seriously got in photography when she left home to backpack around SE Asia ten years ago. The most important possession she took - her second-hand Chinon Film SLR.
Now she loves experimenting with digital manipulation, and accepting a challenge for her artwork. Next year she is planning to take on a major art project, over twelve months of work going in to a large series with inspiration from an amazing book, The Art of Looking Sideways, by Alan Fletcher.
THE ARTWORK
From the artist
This small series was created for fun - to explore different actions, textures and options in Photoshop. It didn't totally end up where I expected it to, and it has a serious - and one in particular quite creepy - nature which I wasn't originally intending. This is one of the things I love about art - I start with an idea and it changes and blooms until it becomes something of its own. I feel the second figure is a realisation of a part of the first figure's psyche, which they can't quite grasp, but can feel at the edge of their perception of themselves.
