THE ARTWORK
From the Artist
Veruca Salt wants it all.
I just want to create one piece I think is interesting enough. Raku is an unforgiving ceramic technique I have recently began dabbling in. With Raku you have to let go, breathe easy and forget any aspect of control. There are too many variables. No two pieces will ever look the same and the poetic names of glazes are deceiving in the least. But it is an addicting practice. It’s the fact of unpredictability that drives one to continue. “Just one more, maybe it will turn out different”. And it always does: looking for enhancement in Raku is hogwash, just enjoy what you get.
