Infectious Disease

Letter From The Director

The Division of Infectious Disease faculty members are committed to excellence in
patient care, research and the training of fellows, residents and medical students.
Our faculty members are well known nationally in the areas of HIV/AIDS, tick-borne
diseases, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome as well as a wide array of diseases
that fall under the auspices of tropical medicine. Dr. Gordon Christensen recently
became board-certified in tropical medicine. Dr. William Salzer serves as the Division
Director, Fellowship Program Director, and is a hospitalist in the Division of Hospital
Medicine. Other members of the ID team include Dr. Will Roland, Associate Chief of
Staff for Education at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans’ Hospital (VA). Dr. Gordon
Christensen served as University of Missouri Hospital’s Chief of Staff in 2011 and passed
the position to Dr. Stevan Whitt in January 2012. Dr. Whitt is board certified in infectious
diseases and critical care medicine and teaches in both areas. Nick Havens, MD, joined
us as courtesy faculty July 1, 2012 with his primary appointment at the VA. Christian
Rojas-Moreno, MD, joined faculty on July 1, 2013.
