Outreach Updates
Downtown Walking Tours
The walking tours , which are offered on the fourth Sunday of most months , have had good participation from MV residents , nearby towns people and out of the area visitors . Starting at Centennial Plaza and ending near Castro and Church streets , the tour covers the history of MV , the stories of founding and early families , and historic buildings .
The tour lasts approximately 90 minutes . Participants vary between six and twelve people . Some are newcomers to MV and others are longtime residents , who sometimes offer additional information or recollections , which adds to the richness of the event . The cost to participate is $ 10 for MVHA members and $ 15 for nonmembers . Registration through EventBrite is required . More information can be found on our website .
If you have questions about membership please reach out : membership @ mountainviewhistorical . org or call ( 323 ) 705- 5650

Stevenson School Field trip
Excited third graders raised their hands when queried by Pamela Baird , MVHA president , “ Why do we study history ?” The Stevenson Elementary School field trip visited the Mountain View Public Library on March 28 to learn about the history of Mountain View .
Using photos to show significant events , Pamela spoke about the people who have lived here before , Ohlone Indigenous people , Spaniards , Mexicans , Californios and settlers arriving after the Gold Rush . Afterwards the children were offered pages for coloring . Over 70 children participated .
