The MVHA continues to work on a number of interesting projects , some of which have been shared in previous editions of this newsletter . Read on for some quick updates !
New MVHA Website . Have you been to our website lately ? If so , you may have noticed it has a brand new look ! After months of behind-the-scenes work with a local web designer , the site underwent its irst major overhaul in ive years . The previous design served us well , but we are very excited to have a refreshed page that brings the website up-to-date . The website now features an easier to navigate menu , updated graphics , and neat features / templates that will make it easier to showcase our historic photos and images . Take a look at the new site at : www . mountainviewhistorical . org and let us know what you think !
I have enjoyed being on the board for the past seven years . I unexpectedly took over these duties from John Figueroa after the tragic loss of his wife and our former president , Pat Figueroa . As our board adjusted to the loss of many longtime board members , we worked on expansive programming highlighting the diverse history of our community and began to modernize our administrative systems . Serving on the MVHA board has been a wonderful way to learn and share the unique history of our city . As I take on my new adventure , I hope to continue elevating the history of our community so that we can all learn from our past as we build the future for the City of Mountain View .
We hope you ’ ll join us in saying a hearty THANK YOU to Emily for all she ’ s done to help share Mountain View ’ s history . We wish her all the best as she works to make a better future for Mountain View on the City Council !
The MVHA board also wants to express our deep gratitude to departing MVHA publicity committee chair , Mary Kay Marinovich . Mary Kay , or Marina as many of us know her , has decided to step down from her publicity duties to devote time to other commitments . Marina ’ s enthusiasm for local history , creative can-do spirit , and positive energy has been a great asset to our board and she will be missed . The MVHA was proud to recognize Marina in 2022 by nominating her for a Santa

Clara Valley Preservation Alliance Award for her tireless work and leadership in preserving Mountain View ’ s Immigrant House and its relocation and restoration at Heritage Park . We look forward to seeing her at future Harvest History Festivals at Heritage Park !
With the departure of Emily and Marina this past quarter , and Mark Perry and Candace Bowers the prior quarter , the MVHA Board is certainly experiencing a lot of change . Luckily , we have some great new volunteers waiting in the wings to ill the shoes of the wonderful volunteers that preceded them . But irst , we need to make some changes to our by-laws . For more on that , see page 6 .

Chinatown Interpretive Placard . The City of Mountain View continues to make progress on plans for an interpretive sign at the historic location of Mountain View ’ s Chinatown , near the intersection of Villa and View streets in Downtown Mountain View . MVHA Board Members met with city staff to review a draft design of the interpretive sign . City staff are continuing to reine the design and review with key stakeholders .
MV Eagles Monument . Planning work continues slowly but surely on the creation of a historical monument at Eagle Park that celebrates the Mountain View High School Eagles and their historic 1975 football team championship . The committee working on the project has selected vendors to create the monument ’ s signage and bronze eagle statue . Design work and coordination with the City of Mountain View continues to progress .
