A MESSAGE FROM THE ORGANISER
Welcome to Richards Bay!
Richards Bay began as a makeshift harbour that was set up by Commodore of the Cape, Sir Frederick Richards during the Anglo-Zulu War of 1879. The Richards Bay Coal Terminal is the largest coal export facility in the world that had a planned capacity of 91 million tons a year by the first half of 2009. In 2007 annual throughput was 66.12 million tons.
Global mining companies like South32 and Rio Tinto own mines in the area. Hillside Aluminium Smelter is run by South32 while Richards Bay Minerals is run by Rio Tinto. The Richards Bay expo is an industrial show that incorporates the mining, sugar, harbour, paper, forestry sectors and surrounding communities.
This is MTE’ s seventh exhibition in the area and visitors include Mondi, Richards Bay Minerals, Foskor and Transnet, among others.
For those who are not familiar with MTE, this travelling exhibitions company has been running for more than two decades, providing a unique platform for suppliers of top-of-the-line mining and industrial equipment to showcase their goods to a community hungry for new technology, services and information – right on its doorstep.
We trust the expo will be a rewarding experience – whether you are visiting or exhibiting. However, we are always open to suggestions on how we can make future expos even more accommodating for you and your business.
