Superintendent's Corner

Thank you for reading the quarterly newsletter. I enjoy collecting stories that happen over the 2 1/2 months time, so I can highlight the wonderful opportunities the students of Ralls County R-II have afforded to them each day they are enrolled in our public school system.

When the 2017-2018 school year began it also was the start of my 25th year in education. I have enjoyed my career and have learned from the changes and challenges of the times. I look forward to many more years of "learning".

Our school was honored to receive the ADM $2,500 grant to further 1:1 technology in our school district. The grant was a competitive process that involved a submitted application to specify the need and how the funds would be utilized. The $2,500 will be used to fund the purchase of additional Chromebooks for student use at school.

The time has come to review the existing CSIP (Comprehensive School Improvement Plan) and write a new plan for the next five years. The perception survey phase is now complete with information gathered from parents, employees and students. The survey results will serve as one information piece in our committee development of a future plan.

I hope you are proud of your school community. The educators working with students everyday are dedicated to student success. We develop goals and policies to support EVERY student, not only SOME students. There are many opportunities for community members to learn about the decisions and direction of the school district. I encourage you to be involved. The more you know, the more you will understand.
