Superintendent's Corner

Thank you for reading the quarterly newsletter. I enjoy collecting stories that happen over the 2 1/2 months time, so I can highlight the wonderful opportunities the students of Ralls County R-II have afforded to them each day they are enrolled in our school system.

When the 2017-2018 school year began it also was the start of my 25th year in education. I have enjoyed my career and have learned from the changes and challenges of the times. I look forward to many more years of "learning".

Our school was honored to receive the Monsanto $10,000 grant to further science education in our school district. The grant was a competitive process that first began with a nomination to apply from local farmers. We received multiple nominations that started the process. The probe ware, temperature monitoring devices and software will be an excellent extension of the learning taking place in our science programs in all grade levels.

The time has come to review the existing CSIP (Comprehensive School Improvement Plan) and write a new plan for the next five years. This process will take a few months to complete and will involve all community members either through direct interaction on a planning committee or through survey answers to find out the needs of our school community.

I hope you are proud of your school community. The educators working with students everyday are dedicated to student success. We develop goals and policies to support EVERY student, not only SOME students. There are many opportunities for community members to learn about the decisions and direction of the school district. I encourage you to be involved. The more you know, the more you will understand.
