CLIENT FEATURE: SEAN PILGRIM
How A Back Room In A Pet Food Store Became The Launchpad For One Of New Mexico ' s Top IT Providers
Building a business is never easy. Building one while starting a family and navigating economic uncertainty? That ' s a different level of challenge, and one that Sean Pilgrim, CEO and founder of 4Leet, knows firsthand.
In 2015, Sean launched 4Leet out of necessity and ambition. As a new father, he knew he needed more than a paycheck. He needed to build something lasting, something that could support his family and serve others at the highest level. Today, 4Leet is recognized as a trusted IT partner for businesses across New Mexico and beyond, serving industries like automotive, financial services, healthcare, and non-profits with cutting-edge technology solutions and a client-first mindset.
But the road here wasn ' t paved overnight. EARLY ROOTS IN TECHNOLOGY
Born on an Air Force base in Clovis, New Mexico, Sean grew up surrounded by technology. He disassembled his first gaming console as a kid just to see how it worked and spent his teen years building websites for games like GoldenEye and Perfect Dark. By 13, he was the unofficial IT support for his parents ' mortgage company.
Watching them pour everything into their business only to lose it during the 2008 housing crash made a lasting impression. " I basically became a stand-in parent for my younger brother while they worked early mornings and late nights," Sean recalls. The experience shaped his understanding of risk, resilience, and responsibility.
Music also played a role in his early tech journey. " I ' m a guitarist," says Sean. " I started building my own computers just so I could record and master tracks." That love for creative problem-solving would serve him well later in life.
FROM STABILITY TO A LEAP OF FAITH
After high school, Sean was on track to join the Marine Corps but stayed home when his father was hospitalized. He picked up multiple part-time jobs to help support the family and eventually worked his way into a full-time IT career, including a role as IT Director at a local car dealership.
Then came the breaking point. " When my wife Nina got pregnant, I knew my salary wouldn ' t be enough," says Sean. " I interviewed with a local MSP and they offered me $ 15 / hour. That was the final push."
He bet on himself, launching 4Leet with his former employer as his first client. " At first, we worked out of the back of a pet food store, doing break-fix jobs and computer repair," he explains. " We grew fast but learned quickly how unsustainable that model was."
REINVENTION AND RESILIENCE
Sean pivoted 4Leet from a reactive IT service to a proactive Managed Services Provider( MSP). That decision changed everything. Revenue stabilized, client satisfaction increased, and the team began to grow. Today, 4Leet delivers secure, strategic technology solutions tailored to the needs of each business they serve.
