LETTER FROM THE CEO
“ The healthy man has a thousand wishes , the sick man only one .”
– Tony Robbins
This year , my husband and I have been reevaluating our trusts , wills , and overall financial plan after finding a fantastic wealth advisor , Jeanne Rabe , over at Truist ( shoutout ), referred to me by my friend and mentor , Dr . Nido Qubein .
Such discussions are morbid , but a necessity . Nobody likes to think about their COD ( crap-out date ), yet we all know for sure that it is coming , just not when . So much of the financial planning process is a guess as to how long you ’ re going to hang around this earth . Should we hope for 100 ? Longer ? Can we afford to buy that beachfront property now if we ’ re only going to make it to 85 ? Do we want to take that gamble ? I think about living to 100 + and what a wrinkled , saggy mess I ’ ll be and kinda don ’ t look forward to it .
The aches and lingering pains of injuries that never seem to heal already plague , with a fresh new crop of , “ What the f *** is this ?” popping up every now and again , feeling like my body is betraying me , hinting at days of reckoning to come . And believe you me , I ’ m in far better shape than most , with all of my physical abilities in VO2 max , strength , and other fitness levels at or exceeding someone 10 years younger . But . . .
After having Dr . Attia at our event back in January , I feel that I need to be a lot more disciplined and focused on maintaining my health so that I can live the kind of life I want and do the things that I love for as long as possible . I wholeheartedly agree with him that the saddest thing in life would be to work your ass off for 65 or 70 years and then spend the final ones imprisoned in a nonfunctioning body and brain .
This is why I think it ’ s so important to have urgency in building your empire . If you can get to your “ enough is enough ” number when you ’ re 50 or younger , ensuring that you don ’ t have to work to earn a living , life is a lot more fun and interesting than eking it out when you ’ re 80 . . . or never .
It ’ s sad to think that , at 52 , I ’ m likely to only have another 30 to possibly 40 good years left if I ’ m so fortunate as to live that long ( God willing ). That ’ s not a lot of time , folks , and at the pace I ’ m running through the years , I feel like it will be upon me much faster than I even anticipate . Today , I ’ m still buying green bananas , but I ’ m starting to think I should eat dessert first .
You laugh ? I hate to break the news to you , darlin ’, but you aren ’ t getting any younger either . You ’ re also not getting taller or better looking , so don ’ t be too quick to judge . I used to be cute too .
Point is , this is it , folks . No dress rehearsal , no do-overs , no reverse on the bus as Jessie Itzler would say . Every day is another day you won ’ t get back . Obviously , we can ’ t live every day as though it ’ s our last ( I ’ d get arrested ). But I do believe that if you have goals and things you absolutely want to do and achieve , you better get after it with extreme urgency , not at the slow , patient , kick-the-candown-the-road , laissez-faire speed you ’ re engaging in now .
This is why I ’ ve never hesitated to invest in myself , my skills , and my knowledge . So many people are quick to say , “ I can ’ t afford to . . .”/“ I can ’ t find the time to . . .” do the things that would help them accelerate the pace of success and collapse the months and years of work by learning from others . So stupid . If they only considered how short a time we have , they might rethink this . They also might be a lot more discretionary with where they spend their time , who they surround themselves with , and what they tolerate .
If I could go back in time , I can assure you I ’ d be far more impatient with the achievement of my goals and twice as ruthless with my time and attention , investing more . How about you ?
Sincerely ,
