It doesn’t mean you need a complete career makeover, but rather a subtle facelift.
We are at the peak of PCS season and, on top of the stress from the logistics of moving your family and your entire life to a new town, you also have the stress of leaving the current job you love and starting over. Many spouses know this struggle all too well and often feel frustrated that they can’t advance in their careers due to restarting every few years.
I’m here to tell you that you don’t have to completely restart at every duty station. There are ways to continue on your current career path. It might take some outside-the-box
thinking, but we spouses are already
pros at that! After all, supporting our
service members has taught us to
“adapt and overcome.”
Almost every time I’ve spoken with a military spouse with a successful career, they answer that they’ve had to “reinvent themselves” at every new duty station. For some, this sounds exciting, but for us seasoned spouses, this sounds exhausting. This reinvention doesn’t have to be!
