Focusing on baby steps not only allows you to keep moving forward, but it also allows you to have reoccurring small wins. These little wins will give you a confidence boost, and also fuel you to keep moving forward, checking items off your list one at a time.
Keep your eye on the prize, so to speak, to keep the motivation to your goal. At the same rate, don’t get too focused on it that you’re missing out on what’s happening. Fall in love with the journey to your goal, rather than your goal. Those steps will go by much faster, and your progress won’t be looming over your head.
Before you get down on yourself mid-baby step, stop and remind yourself of these two things:
Don’t compare the steps you’re on to anyone else’s. They might’ve been walking longer than you, or their gait might be different. These are your own goals, you are not in competition with anyone other than yourself.
Don’t focus so much on the milestones. Focus, instead, on making and maintaining progress. Small steps are still making progress, and they run laps around no steps at all..
