Hiring Challenge: I felt as though all of my experience in the Navy was not as important as having a college degree. I felt that my resume was strong, but it seemed like it was not getting to the hiring manager; and even though I had been tailoring my cover letter to each position I had not tailored my resume.
Assistance Received: I received personal feedback from my Employment Specialist on my resume as well as my LinkedIn profile. She helped me get them to where they needed to be and advised me to take the CASY webinar on Resume and LinkedIn.
Results of Assistance: I was lucky enough to find a job in the same industry that I had worked in for 26 years. Everyone helped me retrain my thought process towards using action words as well as drilling down specifics showing that I am qualified for the position.
Value of Experience: My CASY Employment Specialist, as well as the CASY Trainer, have changed my entire thought process in job searching. They make the
process easy to work with and the attention they give is outstanding.
It is very rare to meet people with the passion to help someone
else succeed in life. I have recommended CASY to several veteran
friends as well as friends getting ready to transition out of the
military. I wish I could have found CASY in the beginning of my
job hunt. It would have saved me time and frustration.
