The mission of the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted. The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens.Over its life span, the Marine Toys for Tots Program has distributed over 494 million toys to over 230 million less fortunate children.
how you can help: Toys for Tots accepts toy and monetary donations. To learn more about donating a toy or money, visit their website at http://www.toysfortots.org/. Additionally, local Toys for Tots operations need volunteers to assist in the transportation and storage of toys, in their local warehouse, with meals, and much more. Visit the national website to locate your local Toys for Tots operation and give the gift of your time this holiday season.
The mission of Wreaths Across America, "Remember, Honor, Teach," is carried out in part by coordinating wreath laying ceremonies on a specified Saturday in December at Arlington, as well as veterans' cemeteries and other locations in all 50 states and beyond. This year's National Wreaths Across America Day is Saturday, December 12.
HOW YOU CAN HELP: Wreaths Across America relies on volunteers to lay wreaths at local sites in their communities.
