•Check your resume and LinkedIn® for updates. Make sure you’ve put your most recent experiences front and center—don’t forget jobs you’re working on while you’re waiting, because they may use skills that matter.

•Edit and proofread all of your resumes. While you have the time, make sure you’ve spelled things properly, have followed grammar rules, and obeyed all general formatting guidelines.

•Contact CASY if you know you’re waiting but aren’t sure what else you could be doing to benefit your job search. We’ll have something to keep you busy and advance your skills.

Thomas Edison once said “Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.” If you’ve found yourself in a hurry that didn’t work out, you’re not done. So, the job posting deadline ran out before you finished your resume or got the chance to apply. This doesn’t mean you’re out of luck. The hard work you just put into that resume

is the starting point for your next job application—and this time it will be even better because you’re going to target it for your industry and have it ready to go.

The time to give up hope in the job search is never. You’ve got the training and the experience to use hurry up and wait to your advantage.

The drill instructor may be gone, but your ability to make it happen is still there, waiting for you to get it done.
