Business Case Study:

Why Hire a VET?

Responding to criticism of the federal hiring process and the portal through which most applicants learn about and apply to federal positions, the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) began rolling out changes to the job board and application submission system in February.

Log into USAJOBS.gov, and you’ll see a cleaner design with some added features to clarify the submission process. For instance, Job Postings include a countdown to let you know how long a job will remain open.

Other new features include:

You can now track the progress of your application within the USAJOBS system by visiting “Application Status.”

You can confirm required documents without leaving the application process.

You can save progress on an application and complete the application at a later time.

You can review your final application before leaving the USAJOBS site (and being redirected to the agency site to complete the questionnaire).

You can often review the agency questionnaire without leaving the USAJOBS site (a big win as you identify and incorporate KSAs into your resume).

What do you think? Will these changes improve the application submission process?
