projects and responsibilities from start to finish. What tools do you use to make sure projects are completed on time; how you determine whether a project is complete—answers to these questions will help the employer to understand whether you have the necessary skills to be successful at working from home in additional to the skills the job itself requires.

Motivation: Employers want to know WHY employees want to work from home. For many military spouses, this is an easy question—remote work can often move from place to place while traditional, in a brick and mortar office can’t. The importance of work-life balance also motivates many to work from home. But it’s important that

the employer understand that the employee is dedicated to the job at hand and not looking to watch tv in their pajamas all day.

Home Work Environment: A good home work environment with all the needed supplies is one of the best indicators of work from home success. A potential employer will want to know that you have the setup and tools needed to do the job right.

When interviewing for a work from home position, make sure you can articulate not just how you are right for the specific job, but how you are also a good candidate for working from home. Remote work is a great option, but you have to show the employer that you’ll add value working from home. Good luck!
