Increased Productivity...
25 Minutes at a Time
By: Amy Rossi
HOW CAN I USE IT IN MY NEW POSITION? Use it to demonstrate productivity.
In the civilian workforce, time management is huge. Most successful leaders I have talked to say that they use “time-blocking” or “pomodoro” to increase their own productivity. It keeps them on task and quantifies time spent on projects. Time is money! If you can demonstrate your efficiency, you are better positioned to ask for a raise or promotion!
Most people tend to only tackle the tasks they enjoy and put off the “hard tasks” until they have more time to work on them. This is a BAD idea because you usually see the job of your dreams at 11:00 p.m. when you are surfing the net only to realize it closes in an hour and you don’t have a suitable resume for the position!
Spend just 25 minutes a day preparing for your future, and it will pay off when you are ready to make your move.
Words to Work By...
"Before anything else, preparation is the key to success."
~ Alexandar Graham Bell
The Takeaway: Everyone has exactly the same number of hours in each day. How you choose to use the time you have every day will determine your daily and long-term productivity. Each day, consider using a timer, or the downloadable app for your smart device, to increase the tasks that you can accomplish each day. Make it a game, and prioritize the work you want to get done!
YOU WILL BE AMAZED to see how much you can accomplish in
such a small amount of time.
