Deep in the Heart of Houston, Texas!

By: Stacy Bayton

The labor climate is thriving in Texas, and public-private partnerships have been a leading factor in overall development and growth sustainability, increased support services, and community development projects that have supported the ever-increasing population and business development.

This climate has helped Texas establish the second largest veteran population in the country, with over 1.8 million veterans residing within its borders and Veterans gravitating to cities like Houston, which has the second highest veteran population in the country. According to USAA’s "2014 Top Places for Veterans to Find Employment", Houston stands out as one of the best cities for transitioning veterans. Why?

Public-private partnerships in the Houston area fuel and sustain strong veteran support programs. The City of Houston and Harris County have brought together many organizations, including CASY & MSCCN, to support veteran service programs, and the Veterans Administration has also partnered with local nonprofits, the United Way, local companies, and education institutions to provide full transitional services that meet the needs of local veterans and families.

All partners share a common goal: Providing support services to the military and veteran community to enable continued success in civilian life.

Headed to Houston? Take advantage of these programs and resources!

Jobs & Training: Houston boasts thousands of companies looking to hire veterans, many of which CASY works with in direct Veteran placement.. Training opportunities for veterans, National Guard, and Reserve are plentiful in Houston, where our partner St. Michaels Learning Academy offers the best local SAP training curriculum, and San Jacinto College provides oil and gas training. Companies provide fellowships, apprenticeships, and internships for veterans with emphasis on
