CASY & MSCCN normally average receipt of between 200 – 500 resumes a week, but in the first week of January, we received 34.

Yes. 34.

I think we actually read every single one of them within the week.

The reality is that most job seekers are dormant during the early part of the year.

It’s understandable. It takes time to re-build a routine, especially if you’ve spent December in a mad frenzy of holidays, parties, and negotiating childcare while school is out of session. But while you are rebuilding, businesses are preparing to move forward with plans to rebuild, too—and they are doing so while working from a much smaller applicant pool.

So, if you are looking for work, NOW IS THE TIME. If you want a new job, get in the game and get your resume out there while the market isn’t flooded with applications. This is your year to focus on the professional as well as the personal. You deserve to see yourself realize goals in more than one area of your life—and it’s much easier to move to the top of the consideration pile when you’re only competing against 34 instead of 500.

Need assistance with your resume? Now’s the time for that too. While CASY & MSCCN always provide focused and individualized attention, it’s much easier to focus on your resume when we are working with a smaller number of candidates.

So, if your career is part of your New Year’s goals (and it should be!), the time is NOW.

Remember, the early applicant can get the job.

Good luck!

In January, this stack had 34 resumes.

It only grows.
