Public Private Partnership Highlight:
Providing Support to Military and Veteran Communities
Public Private Partnerships have increased recently as government budget reductions lead to funding cuts for various programs.
These partnerships solve the problem of monetary shortfalls by developing new strategic alliances that improve public services while reducing government costs.
You may wonder what the benefit is to members of the military and veteran community. Public Private Partnerships provide stronger, more sustainable programs that meet more of the needs that you and your family have as you experience transition throughout your lives within the military and veteran communities.
Assistance is provided through the NC Education and Employment Center (EEC). EEC leads the coordination of services for military and veterans across the state between the NC National Guard command, active duty installations, the Veterans Administration, and nonprofit partners that provide needed gap services.
The EEC is a one stop-shop that assists all service members and their families with education and employment placement. Comprised of a 16 person employment team and a 6 person education team, the EEC is strategically located throughout the state to collaborate with NC employers in order to increase career opportunities for those within the military and veteran communities.
In North Carolina, the National Guard, in partnership with CASY & MSCCN, has led the way by addressing growing concerns about unemployment and underemployment among National Guard members, as well as all transitioning service members, veterans, and family members from within the state. As a state, North Carolina has the fourth-largest active duty military and reserve population in the country. Additionally, over 775,000 veterans living within its borders, putting this state in the top ten states with military and veteran populations.
