HOT JOBS

(continued from previous page)

How do you push through hard times and challenges?

When I was very young, I thought nothing “bad” would happen to our family if we were just good people. We all figure out very quickly that life doesn’t work that way, and no one is immune to disappointments, family tragedies, heartbreak, etc. When I find myself in a situation like that, I lean on my family, close friends, and my faith. I’m usually a “glass half full” person, and after the initial shock of any major setback, it helps me to consider how many other people are dealing with even more traumatic problems, and I try to count my blessings. As I try to work my way through the issues, I remind myself that my family and friends probably won’t dwell much on the initial challenges, but they’ll always remember the quality of the effort made to move forward.

What do you hope to accomplish in 2015 and beyond?

I believe all of us need to have a purpose in life – some activity, work, or focus that gives our days meaning. If we stop contributing and participating, I think we lose our energy and vitality. I plan to continue to do work that brings me personal satisfaction, particularly where I feel I can help an organization, my community, and/or the people I work with to achieve their goals.
