April 14, First Periodical of Ms. Abilities America, Inc. Who am I By Vanessa Alsup I protected my country's honor and freedom of choice, weather it is freedom of worship, or voice. While you were sleeping in your homes safely, on my mind your lives were daily. In combat, or at home, with my brothers and sisters I was never alone. Respect and dignity I showed, when my country was under attack I waited for my call to go. I love my children and my husband, or wife, to keep them safe I would gladly lay down my life. I’ve had boots on the ground in many places, and seen sadness and horror on a lot of faces. When I returned home I wasn’t the same person, I try to force a smile though deep down I'm hurting. I didn’t do this for a metal, or money, some days I am sad and others I can be funny. So if you see me please be kind, for I live a troublesome life. When you see a look of discomfort on my face, respect me and let me have some space. In a grocery store I'm just another shopper, At home I'm a spouse, mother, or father. I don't wear a big sign on my back telling you who I am. I want to show you how much I care, but when I make a mistake don't judge me, or show me an evil stare. So much is said about me that I often wander who I am. You see me every day; you quickly pass me by, Now that everything has been said, who am I?
