In 2009, Warner Bros. raked in over 2,000 million dollars, controlling almost 20 percent of the film industry in America. This is a little easier to accept when you look at the big name movies that Warner Bros. has produced in the past year. "Where The Wild Things Are," "The Hangover," "The Blind Side," "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, "Slumdog Millionaire," "Gran Torino," Ninja Assassin," and "Sherlock Holmes" were all big movies that saw more than the light of day in 2009. Now it's no wonder that Warner Bros. nearest competitor, News Corp., trailed their profits by over 400 million dollars.

Just how much money do this film studios make? Well, one of the "smaller" studios, Overture Films, controls only 1.5 percent of the industry. Nonetheless, in 2009, their movies pulled in a collective 157.8 million dollars. Nonetheless, compared to the profits of the "bigger" name studios, 157.8 million dollars isn't as much.
